Team Lampre-ISD Lampre-ISD's Training Program In addition to the Arabian race, the team of president Galbusera has one group of his riders training in Tuscany and another one on Etna.

The blue-fucsia cyclists hosted in Residence Riva degli Etruschi in San Vincenzo are ending their training, as explained by sport director Maurizio Piovani: "Today we're going to perform the last training, then tomorrow we'll come back home: the balance of this training camp is good, since we were able to ride under the sun and to perform all of the planned program. Yesterday the riders pedaled 185 km with an elevation difference of 2800 mt, covering the climbs of Miccione, Montecerboli, Montebamboli and Sassetta; today we're going to cover a longer course. We noticed an increased fitness of all the athletes".

There's snow on Etna, but the five athletes from Lampre-ISD (Scarponi, Marzano, Niemiec, Pietropolli and Bertagnolli) are training  in a profitable way on the roads of Sicily. "Despite the snow, the temperature is good, especially going on the plain - Michele Scarponi explained - After two days of acclimatization, today we're going to complete three days of intense trainings and then we'll perform a period of lighter trainings".

Lampre-ISD Petacchi Ill There aren't good news for what concerns Petacchi's health because the Italian sprinter will be forced to renounce to Tour de Oman. Doctor Carlo Guardascione, medical responsible from Team Lampre-ISD, explained in a deeper way the situation: "Today Petacchi was visited in Lucca Hospital by Professor Guido Roggi, well known lung specialist, who diagnosed a serious condition of bronchial asthma. It will be necessary an adequate teraphy and a rest for 10 days; anyway, it's too early to try to fix a time for Alessandro's come back to race".

A Ride to Remember Carla Swart Carla Swart was one of the most talented young riders in the world when she was tragically killed in traffic while training in her home country of South Africa. She was 23 years old with an incredible collegiate career behind her, and HTC-Highroad was honored to have been her first pro team even for such a short while.

On Saturday, March 12, a Ride to Remember Carla has been set up by her cycling peers. It begins at 9:30am from 367 State Street in Los Altos, California . There will be a sixty-mile route as well as a thirty-mile route, and there is no cost to ride.

Donations can be made to one of two funds set up on Carla's behalf. One is a fund called Carla's Circle set up by High Road Sports to benefit Carla's family. Carla was very close to her family and always wanted to be able to give back to support them and in particular her mother who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Another way to donate is to support the Scholarship fund set up by Lees McRae College where Carla attended University. Details and entries for the ride are available at SportsBase. HTC-Highroad Milestone Team Chalks Up 400 wins since 2008 HTC-Highroad's win at the 2011 Ladies Tour of Qatar puts the team's combined victory total at 400 since our beginning in 2008. Over the last three years, our men have won 241 races, and our women 159, making both the men's and women's teams the most successful teams racing today.

Our men have won 44 Grand Tour stages; major classics like Milan-San Remo, Fleche Wallone, and Gent Wevelgem twice. The team has won multiple stage races including the Tour of California and the Tour Down Under, The Tours of Germany, Ireland, Britain, Georgia and (more here). The team has also worn the leader's, points and best young rider jerseys in all three grand tours during this period.

Our women have consistently been ranked number one, and have won multiple world cups including Flanders (twice) Montreal and China, as well as major stage races including the Route de France, Tour of Tuscany, and Thuringen Rundfahrt. The men and women combined have won the Philadelpia Classic 5 times.

"We are all thrilled to hit the 400 victory milestone and to continue our success together. We remain an open team where success is possible for all. Seventy five percent of our athletes have won races over the last three years. Each rider has a chance at victory by staying personally focused and racing as a team every day in every event. It's the combination of exceptional people, partners and shared commitment that sets us apart, said Team Owner Bob Stapleton.

Team manager Rolf Aldag agrees, "I'm proud of what the team achieved is such a short time. It is the mix of good people who make this team such a big success. It is very special to me that the team won so many races with a lot of different riders. People who work hard and focused get their chance and succeed. Looking forward to make it 500 during the 2011 season."

Texas High School Cycling League USA Cycling Development CampsPartnership By: Celeste Des Ormeaux The Texas High School Cycling League announces its partnership with USA Cycling South Central Athlete Development Camps for its 2011 Spring Road Race Series. Spanning the state, the series offers races in seven different metro areas, drawing competitors from across the Lone Star State as well as other states. Competition kicks off February 26 and continues through May 8.

This partnership with USA Cycling Athlete Development Camps means that the top male and female competitors in the BoysÂ’ and GirlsÂ’ Division A series standings as of April 18 will earn a guaranteed spot to attend the South Central Athlete Development Camp in Austin, TX to be held June 5-10. This is also the fifth year the leagueÂ’s races will be held in conjunction with the South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference.

The league, which boasts a female participation rate of 20%, double that of USA CyclingÂ’s nationwide membership, expects entries to double based on the large number of new high school clubs and cyclists across the region. Last season 30 schools and 60 athletes were represented.

Excited that 50% of the participants are new to cycling as a competitive sport, league director Andrew Armstrong explains: “Fun and camaraderie are integral to the structure of our competitions. Friendships have developed in and out of competition, and it’s great to watch competitors working together. We hope to foster more students training together and to promote lifelong racing.”

Racing weekends will include at least two of the three following types of races: road race, time trial, or criterium and in most cases, the league expects that all three races will be included at all seven weekends.

“That gives competitors between 17 to 21 races in our series,” Armstrong adds. “We’re expecting both beginners and elite high school racers. Our goal is to offer all levels of racing so that those people who have never raced before can get comfortable and gain a thirst for competition, while others can race against the best competition the state has to offer.”

High school men will race in either the A or B category. Competitors can self-select according to league guidelines and input. Women will race in an open category.

Tour de Cure 20th Anniversary Primal Wear Tour de Cure Jersey Primal Wear, a leading designer and manufacturer of branded and custom technical cycling apparel, today announced it will expand its support of the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure as the annual fundraising ride celebrates its 20th anniversary.

As Primal's relationship with the Association enters its third year, the apparel manufacturer will donate 15 percent of all Tour de Cure teams' custom apparel orders back to that team's fundraising account. Primal will also assist in the design process and complete order fulfillment and shipping with no additional fees.

Unique sponsorship will donate 15 percent of all teams custom apparel "We know that every dollar these teams raise counts toward advancing research, increasing awareness, improving support and one day finding a cure," said Dave Edwards, Primal founder and CEO. "Supporting the American Diabetes Association is one of the most important things we could do and we're thrilled to have the chance to do it again in 2011."

Primal began producing jerseys and accessories for the American Diabetes Association and the Tour de Cure in 2009 and has also helped expand the Association's Red Rider logo and jersey program in 2007, which honors and supports those riders living with diabetes everyday.

"Last year more than 50,000 cyclists across the country participated in the Tour de Cure, and Primal's continuing involvement and generous contributions are an enormous help in expanding our reach and supporting our mission," said Sarah Prevost, associate director of the Tour de Cure.

Primal's involvement in the launch and expansion the event's Red Rider program increases recognition within the Tour de Cure events for participants who have diabetes, have a friend or family member with the disease or are strong supporters of the cause but don't have a team of their own.

"Primal has been a great advocate for the American Diabetes Association and of the Red Rider program, providing us not only with amazing jerseys for our riders, but with a partner in the fight against diabetes," said Mari Ruddy, founder of the Red Rider program. "Now with 15 percent of teams' apparel costs going right back to the Association, riders have one more way to help meet their fundraising goals and contribute to our cause."
