GAINESVILLE–Longstreet Inpatient Medicine is pleased to welcome James L. Taylor, M.D., to its hospital-based practice.

Dr. Taylor completed his bachelorÂ’s degree at the University of Georgia in Athens. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency, as well as a fellowship in infectious diseases, at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Taylor is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board eligible in infectious diseases. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.

He has medical staff privileges at Hart County Hospital in Hartwell and Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.

“We have been very pleased with our relationship with Longstreet Inpatient Medicine for the past year and are looking forward to the future with this group of outstanding physicians. They have brought quality, personal and professional care to our patients and have been a pleasant addition to our medical community,” said Jerry Wise, chief operating officer of Acute Care Services for Ty Cobb Healthcare System.

“We are excited that Longstreet has chosen to bring into their practice Dr. James Taylor, Hartwell resident, and Christie Crump, certified nurse practitioner, from Toccoa,” he added. “These two additions to our medical team again emphasizes Longstreet Inpatient Medicine’s commitment to Ty Cobb Healthcare System and to the care of those patients who turn to us for their medical needs.”

Inpatient physicians, or “hospitalists,” focus on caring for hospitalized patients by dedicating their practice to the hospital. Longstreet Inpatient Medicine has been providing expert hospital care since 1997. Hospitalists ensure continuity of patient care from admission to discharge. This added level of care, uninterrupted by office demands, allows the physicians to monitor patients more closely and react to any changes in their condition or new information received from tests or procedures.
