NORMAN — A 28-year-old Norman man was arrested early Monday morning at Walgreens, 100 12th Avenue NE on suspicion of robbing the pharmacy of several types of painkillers.
Harold Reed Holden is accused of robbery with a weapon after allegedly taking prescription drugs from the pharmacy and threatening to harm the pharmacist with a knife, according to the charge filed Monday.
According to the affidavit, Holden allegedly jumped over the pharmacy counter at about 1 a.m. Monday. He was wearing a ski mask, dark shirt or jacket, and khaki colored pants, and proceeded to ask the pharmacist for the narcotic pain medication, Opana.
The pharmacist unlocked the medicine cabinet, and allowed Holden to take several medications, according to the affidavit. Holden then allegedly had the pharmacist kneel while he bound the pharmacist’s hands with a phone cord from a nearby counter.
After binding the pharmacist’s hands, Holden told the pharmacist he had a knife but had no intentions of using the knife, according to the affidavit. No injuries were reported.
According to the affidavit, Holden then asked the pharmacist about video cameras and exits in the store, and left the pharmacy from an emergency exit.
Police arrived on the scene as Holden was attempting to leave in his vehicle at a high speed, according to a news release from the police department.
The police department’s Criminal Investigation Division assisted in the investigation while they had Holden stopped in his car in the Walgreens parking lot, according to a police news release.
Holden was identified using the pharmacist’s description and surveillance video, according to the affidavit.
A knife, bottle of oxycontin, bottle of oxycodone, bottle of oxycodone with acetaminophen, bottle of Suboxone, and bottle of Opana, were found on Holden’s possession upon arrest, according to the affidavit.
Holden was being held at Cleveland County Detention center late Monday.
