ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Tim Tebow (TEE'-boh) is still the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback, at least for another week. Broncos coach John Fox said he's sticking with his embattled young signal-caller following Denver's 45-10 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday despite Tebow completing less than 50 percent of his passes and getting sacked 13 times in his two starts.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Three days after winning the World Series, St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa is going out on top. The 67-year-old manager is retiring after winning the third World Series title in his 33-year career in which he ranks third on the all-time victory list.
NEW YORK (AP) — CC Sabathia (suh-BATH'-ee-uh) is staying with the New York Yankees after agreeing to a new deal that adds $30 million to his existing contract. Sabathia agreed to a $161 million, seven-year deal two years ago and the new deal adds $30 million in guaranteed money, bringing the left-hander's total over the next five years to $122 million.
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Rangers, who played their first seven games on the road, finally earned their first victory at the renovated Madison Square Garden by routing the San Jose Sharks 5-2 behind a pair of goals by Ryan Callahan. The Sharks can't feel too badly about the defeat as they ended a six-game road trip with a 5-1 mark.
