Military Notes

Air Force Airman 1st Class Richard S. MacDonald,son of Richard MacDonald of Townsend, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Jeffrey A. Mompremier-Cruz, son of Dayssi Cruz of Athol, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Army Reserve Pvt. Michael M.A. Achehmpong, son of Kofi Achempong of Worcester, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Army Spec. Stephen Agyei, nephew of Kwame Owusu Ansah and Oti Akenten Joseph, both of Worcester, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Grafton Hill American Legion Post 323 will meet at 1 p.m. at the Worcester Detachment Marine Corp League, 181 Lake Ave., Worcester.

A Disabled American Veterans Department Service Officer will be available to assist veterans and dependents in filing claims to the VA from 8 a.m. to noon at the VA Outpatient Clinic, 605 Lincoln St., Worcester. When a filing a claim veterans must bring a copy of their DD Form 214 and supporting documentation concerning their claim.

Barre American Legion Post 2 will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 21 Allen Drive, Barre.

Cherry Valley American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 443 will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the post quarters, 167 Main St., Leicester. The executive board will meet at 7 p.m.

James R. Kirby American Legion Post 50 will meet at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Clinton Town Hall, 242 Church St., Clinton.

Italian American War Veterans Post 3 will meet at 7 p.m. at 14 Itam Court, Worcester.

Cherry Valley American Legion Post 443 will meet at 8 p.m. at the post quarters, 167 Main St., Leicester. The executive board will meet at 7 p.m.

The Worcester County Vietnam Veterans and AMVETS Post 1391 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Tatnuck American Legion Post, 570 Mill St., Worcester. The executive boards will meet at 6:30 p.m.

The Blackstone Valley Detachment 911 of the Marine Corps League will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Minney VFW Post 3329, 16 South Main St., Millbury.

Paxton American Legion Post 306 will meet at 7 p.m. at 885 Pleasant St., Paxton.

Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Post 7556 will meet at 7 p.m. at 713 Pleasant St., Leicester.

Cherry Valley Sons of the American Legion Squadron 443 will meet at 7 p.m. at the post quarters, 167 Main St., Leicester. The executive board will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Blue Star Mothers Massachusetts Chapter 3 will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Inc., 59 South St., Shrewsbury.

The Combat Infantry Association of New England Regiment will hold a breakfast at 10 a.m. at the Bull Run, Route 2A, Shirley. The cost is $15 per person. All are welcome.

Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 will hold a meat/seafood raffle at 1 p.m. at 88 Bancroft St., Auburn. Early bird tickets are available at 12:30 p.m. There will be six tables of prime rib, steaks, lobster, crab and more. The general public is invited to this nonsmoking event.

Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 will hold a St. Patrick’s Day party from 6 p.m. to midnight at 159 Hartwell St., West Boylston. Price includes a corned beef and cabbage dinner and a DJ for music with dancing. Tickets are $15 per person and are available at the bar.

Cherry Valley American Legion Post 443 will have a St. Patrick’s dinner starting at 6 p.m. with cocktails and dinner at 7 p.m. at 167 Main St., Leicester. A corned beef dinner will be served, and there will be music, and an Irish step dancer performance. Tickets are $10 and are available at the post. American Family Link Inc., in coordination with the Leominster Veterans Services Office and AMVETS Post 38, is sending DVD and music CDs to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. There will be a meeting at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Center, 100 West St., Leominster. Volunteers are also needed. The agency is collecting new or used CDs and DVD films — motivational, inspirational and especially films that inspire a sense of family and moral values. Other donations will be accepted, including disposable cameras, snacks, toiletries, wipes and small games. Drop off items at the Leominster Veterans Services Office, 100 West St., Leominster, on or before March 24. American Family Link needs updated addresses. If someone in your family is serving, and you would like to make sure they get a package, contact Leominster Veteran Services Officer Richard Voutour at (978) 534-7538 or e-mailrvoutour@leominster-ma.gov. with an updated address. The agency hopes to reach out to all local servicemen and women. DVD packages will only be mailed to an address that has been confirmed by a family member no later than March 24.

Radio Station Easy 99.1 and Dr. Joseph Santelli of the Center for Progressive Dentistry in Duxbury are offering a dental makeover up to $10,000 to a veteran. The veteran needs to be nominated.
