Letter: ‘Chicago way’ not for city - Springfield, IL - The State Journal-Register

Sen. Dick Durbin, who played a major role in the election of Barack Obama and is a known backer of Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emmanuel is prominently backing Sheila Stocks-Smith for Springfield’s mayor.

Durbin is a major part of the “Chicago way” or machine. The same Chicago machine that has bankrupted the nation, Cook County, Chicago and Illinois by extreme tax-and-spend policies, while denying citizens liberty by massive overregulation.

Sheila Stocks-Smith, who served as education liaison to Mayor Tim Davlin, says  Springfield needs to get away from the old boys’ network  in which she and Durbin participate.

It’s ironic that Stocks-Smith says that if you want a job she will hire you based on what you know not who you know. Her promoter, Dick Durbin, is Mr. Who in Illinois.

She says at a forum, “I have been an advocate and I have been an agitator. I have been a cooperator.”

Obviously, she is following the Durbin/Obama Organizing for America campaign to put boots on the ground in Springfield for Durbin/Obama. Durbin is known for his tax-and-spend policies and has loved every tax increase, which he calls investment.

Based on Durbin’s record, Stocks-Smith will follow the leader. Her hiring practices will be vetted by Durbin and his partisan allies. Springfield needs help right now, not the “Chicago way”!
