House set to vote on Perdue's veto of "Kill ObamaCare" bill on Wednesday

WRAL-TV is reporting that House leaders have scheduled a vote Wednesday (3-8-11) on overriding Gov. Bev. Perdue's veto of the Freedom in Heath Care Act a.k.a. the "kill ObamaCare" bill.

Pat McCrory, Perdue's opponent in the last election and expected to be in the next election, issued the following audio statement:

As noted in the articles above, in order to override a veto the House must have 72 votes. They got 70 votes before when the bill passed and that included two Democrats, Rep. William Brisson, D-Bladen and Rep. Jim Crawford, D-Granville/Vance. So if all remains the same they would need get two Democrats to vote to override, or "take a walk" and not vote.

Indications are that a key target is Rep. Tim Spears, D-Chowan, Dare, Hyde, Washington.

Rep. Bill Cook, R-Beaufort/Pitt is a strong supporter of HB 2 and told the Observer that he will not only vote to override the Governor's veto but that he is working on efforts to persuade "several" Democrats to support the override.

It is expected that the veto can be overridden in the Senate, whey the Republicans have 3/5 of the votes.
