One of the true superstars of boxing today and three time world champion Juan Manuel Márquez has had his personal beef with yound prospect Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, specially after ‘Canelo’ challenged Márquez to a fight during a tv show in México.
Now during Juan´s own tv show ‘Golpe a Golpe’ of ESPN Márquez had his own comments about the Alvarez-Hatton weigh in drama.
‘It shows you that he doesn´t have what it takes to be a champion, I mean how can you fail to make the contracted weight that you imposed to your opponent, you fail in your first world title shot is unbelieveable´’, Márquez told the audience.
‘What I said is true, your train to lose weight that is your first rival the scale, you have to be prepare to beat the weight and then have a strategy to beat your foe, but he failed big time after so much hype, this is unacceptable, irresponsible, no more no less”, concluded Márquez. Regarding an interview by Televisa after the weigh in where Saúl expreses that Hatton and his team over reacted to the situation and that the fight was first schedule for 150 and 10 rounds and after the W.B.C. was on the line to him (Saúl) the contract was off and the fight should be at 154 ‘Dinamita’ Márquez stated:
“That is false, trying to fool the public doesn´t work anymore, no matter how televise made it look like it was true, everybody knows that the contract was for 150 even whn the title is at stake, the fans know better and they are unhappy, anyway ‘Canelo’ should win this easy, he has the talent and now he is bigger and stronger than his rival that basically is a super lightweight or a welterweight at the most´´.
