MEINEKE BOWL 2010 – Before you’ll see the ball dropped in Times Square, New York, you shouldn’t miss the live coverage of ESPN / ESPN3 for Meineke Bowl 2010 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The Meineke Car Care Bowl will feature the clash of Clemson Tigers of ACC vs South Florida Bulls of the Big East Conference. South Florida vs Clemson will be the last game of the series to be called the “ Meineke Car Care Bowl ” because effective on 2011, Charlotte-based department store chain Belk will become title sponsor of the bowl and it will be renamed and called “ Belk Bowl .”
Clemson Tigers, with a record of 6-6, almost missed to qualifying for a bowl game this year after struggling to close out the season. They had a good start in the regular season winning against North Texas Mean Green in their first game in this season and against Presbyterian Blue Hose in the following week. Clemson suddenly lose control in the next three games being defeated by Bo. 15 Auburn, No. 16 Miami Florida, and North Carolina. Before they enter the 2010 Meineke Bowl, they were defeated by No. 17 South Carolina last month at the Battle of the Palmetto State.
This will be the second appearance of South Florida in Meineke Bowl. They first appeared in 2005 where they were beaten by North Carolina State. It was a very unfortunate event in their bowl history for they were left scoreless all throughout the game. The Bulls need to recover from that bitter lose as they face the Tigers this year.
