10A The Food and Drug Administration is asking drug makers to limit the use of the painkiller ingredient acetaminophen in hopes of saving lives. Makers of prescription drugs have three years to meet the requested limit of 350 mg or face federal proceedings to force the product off the market. Nonprescription drugs with the ingredient are not affected, but the FDA continues to consider other options for those drugs. Tylenol and Excedrin are among drugs that include acetaminophen.
