Aristide Economopoulos/The Star-Ledger Kris Humphries (43) says the Nets have a goal of making it to the playoffs.
Playoffs? P-P-P-Playoffs?
Yes, Kris Humphries used the "P'' word today after practice.
"Our goal is to slide into the playoffs,'' Humphries said, a day after his 20-point, 11-rebound, off-the-bench performance helped the Nets beat the Chicago Bulls, 96-94, to end a five-game losing streak.
"It hasn’t been a really good time to talk about that, but if you look at the East, you can lose eight games in a row and figure out a way to get back on track,'' he said. "So (if) we put together a little win streak here… ''
It may seem far-fetched, with the Nets currently owning a 10-25 record, but at the moment, they are only four games back of eighth-place Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference. With 49 games to go, it's not inconceivable they could make up that gap.
Of course, a lot of things would have to happen to turn things around. The Nets would have to develop some consistency -- getting the injured Anthony Morrow back in a couple weeks should help -- and some more toughness.
And maybe the front office could swing a trade that might help a little as well?
