CHICAGO – The No. 34 DePaul women’s tennis team continues its challenging slate this weekend when it travels to No. 47 Indiana on Saturday and then hosts No. 48 Iowa on Sunday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club.  Saturday’s first serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. (CST) while Sunday’s match begins at 1 p.m.

The Blue Demons (6-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) have won their four matches and are 3-0 in duals played at the Lakeshore Athletic Club this season.

Head coach Mark Ardizzone has put together one of the program’s  most challenging schedules as DePaul has already faced three ranked teams and participated in the premiere January tournament – the ITA National Indoor Qualifier.

This weekend’s competition is no different as DePaul plays its third Big Ten team of the season.  Since 2004, the Blue Demons are a combined 3-7 against Indiana and Iowa.  Last season, DePaul topped then-No. 42 Indiana 4-2 for its second straight win over the Hoosiers while it fell at No. 54 Iowa in a close 4-3 dual.   The Blue Demons’ only win over the Hawkeyes since 2004 came in 2009 a 5-2 win in Iowa City.

Indiana (7-2) enters the weekend after dropping a 5-2 decision at No. 11 Tennessee last week.   The Hoosiers are led by sophomore Leslie Hureau, who boasts a 17-2 mark in singles.

No. 81 Sonja Molnar leads Iowa (2-3) on both the singles and doubles courts.  Molnar is 3-2 in singles action while she is ranked No. 32 in doubles with her partner Jessica Young.  Molnar and Young are 4-0 in the top doubles spot.

Led by senior and reigning BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week, Katarina Milinkovic the Blue Demons have combined for 80 singles victories and have 38 on the doubles court.

Playing in the number one position, Milinkovic has won her last six matches and eight of her last nine.  Milinkovic boasts a 16-9 singles record while freshmen Kelsey Lawson and Christiana Raymond each have 17 singles wins.

After starting the season 6-2, Gia McKnight and Milinkovic entered the Campbell’s/ITA Doubles rankings at No. 55. The pair has won their last three matches including a win the No. 33 pair in the nation.  In their last three matches, McKnight and Milinkovic have dropped just four games.

Following this weekend, DePaul heads to the prestigious Blue and Grey Invitational hosted by No. 45 Alabama.  No. 17 Notre Dame, No. 25 Oklahoma, No. 30 Ohio State, No. 63 Auburn, and No. 23 Virginia are all participating in the three-day tournament in Montgomery, Alabama Feb. 25-27.
