Frugal Family: Deals You Won't Want to Miss - Catonsville, MD Patch

Welcome back my fair frugal friends.  As I sit here in the midst of winter’s last stand, ready to embark on yet another penny pinching adventure, I’m wondering if you’ve got what it takes.  Can you handle the vast amounts of deals and steals awaiting you in this week’s column?  I have faith in you.  You can do it.

Remember not just any sale makes it into Frugal Family.  Only the best of the best can catch my eye, and believe me, thousands of deals audition each week.  However, the few that make this list have undergone the scrutiny of a watchful and somewhat skeptical eye.

My promise to you is this.  They will save you a substantial amount of dough.  They will add to your quality of life, even if only a sliver.  And last, but certainly not least, they will bring you utter and complete happiness and bliss.

Okay, maybe I’m stretching just a bit, but prepare yourselves.  The floodgates are open.

Save $5 at Friday’s:  And the best part is you don’t have to wait until Friday, though you will have to shovel out your car first.  Print this coupon and save $5 off your purchase of $15 at T.G.I. Friday's.  Why not call up some fellow moms and turn it into a lunch date?  Friday’s is very kid friendly, not to mention super yummy.

Trim the Hedges:  Of course you’ll have the wait for the snow to melt, but it is almost Spring after all (I hope).  Sears is having a mega sale on some very important tools for around the house and yard.  Whether you need a hedge trimmer ($20), a 42 piece screwdriver set ($5), or a self-locking tape measure($9.50), they’re bound to at least provide you with some much needed motivation for upcoming projects around the home.   Use code “SEARS5OFF50” to save a little more and choose In-Store Pickup for Free Shipping.  You may be able to print this coupon and save a little more when you pick your new tools up from the store.

Quality Backpacks for Less:  Jump on this deal.  We all know how costly backpacks can be, especially the good ones.  L.L. Bean has their Deluxe Book Packs (plaid) on sale for $15.99.  Use code jpa4393 to save an extra 30%, and then throw in code 3026415 to ship your bags for free.  I’m in for three.  Plus, plaids making a comeback, or it will after you all run out and get in on this deal.

Honey Bunches of Savings:  If you’re like us, you go through an awful lot of cereal, so I’m not too picky when it comes to brands.  “Whatever’s on sale,” that’s my motto.  Amazon, at least lately, has been a great place to stock up. Today you can get your hands on some Honey Bunches of Oats (4 pk) for $9.60.  Use Subscribe and Save and they’ll take off an extra 15 percent and ship it to your free.  It averages out to about $2 a box and you don’t even have to leave your couch.  Choose your Bunches with Almonds or Strawberries.

Savor the Memories:  We all love photo books, right?  Well right now at Groupon, you can get your hands on $115 worth of family memories incarnate from Photobook America for just $35.  Yep, that’s right $35.  So go be an artist and create your very own coffee table book.

Ecobaby Diapers:  If you cloth diaper lover, then you know that they’re not cheap.  Granted, they save you bookoodles on mullah in the long term, as opposed to disposable, but the upfront investment can sting a bit.  Well, ecomoms, stock up now.  Ecobabybuys.com has a one day sale on Grovia Wonder Wraps Cloth Diaper Covers.  You can get a 2-pack for $14.95.  They’re adorable one size diaper covers and work with any inserts.

Pillow & a Pet: As a mom, I don’t get the attraction to these things, but my kids love them.  Zulily, a deal site for moms and kids, currently have Cuddly Pillow & Pets for just $11.99.  They have a wide range of choices as well, though a few are sold out.  This is a day only deal, so you might want to act fast.  Use code GA1189 to save $5 off $50.

Happy Saving!

P.S.  Are you a local business owner that would like to put worth your own deal?  If it passes my criteria, I'll post it here.  Just shoot me an email.
