INDIANAPOLIS — Most school districts and several college campuses closed for the day across central Indiana following a coating of overnight ice and in advance of more freezing rain expected later in the day.
Schools are closed Tuesday from Terre Haute through the Lafayette, Indianapolis, Bloomington and Muncie areas to around Richmond.
The winter storm also prompted classes to be called off at Purdue, Indiana State, Butler and DePauw universities, along with IUPUI and the Indiana University regional campuses in Kokomo and Richmond.
Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg says the decision to cancel classes on the 37,000-student campus in West Lafayette was made in consultation with local emergency management officials and based on current and projected weather.
