Nats show interest in Oswalt, Wilson

The Nationals want to add another big arm to their rotation this offseason, and general manager Mike Rizzo is wasting no time making his intentions known.

Adam Kilgore of the Washington Postis reporting that Rizzo spent nearly an hour Monday night - the opening night of the General Manager meetings - talking with Bob Garber, who represents both C.J. Wilson and Roy Oswalt.

Either pitcher would add much needed depth to a rotation that is set to feature Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann as a 1-2 punch, but not much else. Wilson, the current ace of the two-time reigning American League Champion Texas Rangers, is arguably the most prized free agent this offseason and will have plenty of big money offers from around the league.

Oswalt (9-10, 3.69 ERA in a injury riddled 2011) might be a more realistic fit with the Nationals being the fourth starter in a loaded Phillies rotation that boasts Cole Hamels, Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee.

With just two days down in the GM meetings however, there is still a long way to go before either pitcher finds a home whether it's in Washington or elsewhere.
