'The View' co-hosts attack, defend Charlie Sheen

The View sters have been hashing out Charlie Sheen's latest escapades over the past two days in their Hot Topics chats.

On Tuesday, they talked about his at-home rehab, which prompted Barbara Walters to say, "It really depends on how much he wants to change. Obviously he doesn't."

A more optimistic Elisabeth Hasselbeck said, "Maybe this will pave the way... maybe this could be a model that will work."

Whoopi Goldberg said, "It really depends on the people who are doing the rehab."

Today, Whoopi talked about her own struggles with drugs and explained that it's possible to keep working while battling an addiction. "Having been a drug addict I feel I can say this… I was a functioning drug addict, I showed up for work because I knew a lot of people would be out of work and I wouldn't get a check that I needed to buy my drugs."

But things did get pretty bad for her. "I wet the bed, I pooped the bed… I was so scared. I hit bottom," she noted, adding, "I did that a long time ago."

Goldberg said she understood how Sheen could do both rehab and work, if he chooses, but that "this isn't the producers' decision [to make]. Until Charlie makes the decision that he's ready and willing to stop doing what he's doing… he's not there yet."
