POLICE REPORTS: Man reports being shot in hand by masked gunman in Lufkin - The Lufkin Daily News: Police Report

A man told Lufkin police he went to visit a friend in the 400 block of South Timberland Drive. The man said he walked around the side of his friend’s house and was confronted by a man in a ski mask holding a gun. The man said the gunman shot at him several times, striking him once in the hand.

The man went to a friend’s house to get medical treatment, but said the bleeding would not stop. He went to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.

A woman told police she met with an ex-boyfriend in the 1600 block of Atkinson Drive and that he her for money. She said that when she gave him money, he began to argue with her, saying she had agreed to give him more. During the argument, the woman told police, the man grabbed her by the hair and twisted her neck. No injuries were reported.

A man told police someone pointed a handgun at him and ordered him to get out of his vehicle in the 3400 block of Freeman Street. The man said the suspect then got into his vehicle and drove off, crashing a few blocks away.

A woman told police that someone entered her vehicle in the 1700 block of West Frank Avenue and stole her registration sticker.

A man told police that someone forced their way into his residence in the 900 block of Kurth Drive by kicking in his back door. Nothing appeared to be missing, the man said.

The Lufkin Police Department made five arrests late Saturday and early Sunday. Arrests and charges included: Robert Smith, 24, possession of marijuana; James Simmons, 35, driving while intoxicated; Tyler Stephen Rullen, 20, possession of marijuana, possession of a dangerous drug; Elquincy Whitmill, 25, assault/suffocation; and Christopher Smith, 25, criminal mischief, assault.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office arrested Aaron Chris McKennon, 40, on a charge of possession of marijuana.

The Hudson Police Department arrested Bobby Smith, 24, on a charge of assault.

The Angelina County Jail housed 254 inmates as of 1 p.m. Sunday.
