Western-Delta University budgets N38m for Private University Games

The forthcoming 4th Nigerian Private University Games (NPUGA) to be hosted by Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State is estimated to gulp a whopping sum of N38million naira to organise.

The sporting event which is being staged by the school sports council in collaboration with the umbrella body, NPUGA will feature about three thousand athletes participating in fifteen various sporting activities between December 11th and 21, 2011 across three sporting centers in the State.

Chairman, Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Dr, Dosu Malomo who disclosed this to Tribunesports in Oghara over the weekend after the inauguration of the LOC members stated that the said amount would be needed to organise befitting games in December.

Dr. Malomo noted that although the marketer assigned to market the games has being working day and night to secure sponsors in which about five organisations have signified interests to be part of the event, adding that the school authority is not resting on getting their own sponsors as well.

''This is the fourth editions of the games to be hosted in our institution in December; we have being making frantic efforts to make sure that we organise abefitting games in the history of NPUGA.

''The games will cost us the sum of N38m to stage it in which the marketer has being doing its best while the school in particular is working on its own part to ensure quality games,''

However, he affirmed that that three towns namely Oghara, Sapele and Mosonga will play host to the games while table-tennis, badminton and swimming are to be staged outside Oghara campus town that holds the rest.

He remarked that this is being done to utilize the available facilities in these towns since they were very close to each other. ''In fact these towns are just five minutes drive to each other and it will be necessary to make use of them being within our locality. It will also boost sporting activities in these areas among the teeming youths in Delta State”.
