Sixth-ranked Thomas More College fell 26-23 to Waynesburg in a Presidents' Athletic Conference Division III game Saturday at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills.
The Saints (8-1, 7-1 PAC) had a 29-game regular-season winning streak and a 26-game PAC winning streak snapped. The Yellow Jackets (5-3, 5-2) led 14-0 after one quarter, 14-7 at halftime and 23-15 after three quarters.
The Saints tied the game at 23-23 when sophomore running back Dominique Hayden scored on a two-yard run with 10:41 to play in the fourth quarter and Rob Kues (Newport Central Catholic) connected on a pass to sophomore wide receiver Corie Cartmell (Oak Hills) on the two-point conversion.
Waynesburg took a 26-23 lead with 2:39 to play in the game on a Chris Marini 24-yard field goal.
Offensively, the Saints were led by sophomore running back Adam Rauch (East Central), who had six carries for 62 yards and a touchdown and had six catches for 61 yards. Hayden finished with 18 carries for 75 yards and one touchdown and six catches for 25 yards, while Kendall Owens (La Salle) had six catches for 60 yards and one touchdown and had four rushes for eight yards. Kues was 21-of-45 passing for 183 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, the Saints were led by junior linebacker Nick Gramke (Elder) and freshman defensive back Shaquille Jinks (Moeller), who each had 11 tackles, including a half tackle for a loss. Junior linebacker Elijah Anglim (Anderson) added seven tackles.
The Saints close out the regular season Saturday against Mount St. Joseph in Bridge Bowl XVI at 1 p.m. at MSJ's Schueler Field.
San Diego 31, Dayton 28: Kenny James scored on a 2-yard run with 47 seconds remaining, his third touchdown of the game, to give San Diego a Pioneer Football League victory over UD.
Mason Mills completed 5 of 7 passes during the winning 61-yard drive for the Toreros (7-2, 5-1), who led 24-0 at halftime before the Flyers (6-4, 4-3) came back to take a 28-24 lead.
After San Diego's go-ahead score, Dayton reached its 47 before Rob Beathard intercepted Highlands graduated Will Bardo's pass on the game's final play.
Bardo threw three touchdown passes in the second half to rally the Flyers, including a 36-yarder to Branden Johnson with 2:33 left that gave them their only lead of the game. James carried 28 times for 184 yards for the Toreros, who scored on their first three possessions. The third came after they recovered a blocked Dayton punt at the Flyers 32.
No. 4 Georgetown 56, Lindsey Wilson 27: For the second straight season, the Tigers (9-0, 5-0) went undefeated in Mid-South Conference divisional play. They is also a game away from a perfect regular season in NAIA play, not been done since 2006.
The Tigers (9-0, 5-0) are MSC East champions following a win over Lindsey Wilson (6-3, 2-2) at Toyota Stadium on senior day.
They return to action next weekend at Belhaven looking to go 10-0.
Neal Pawsat finished 24-of-36 passing with 415 yards and six touchdowns and no interceptions. Chris Gohman hauled in four catches for 116 yards and a score.
Mount St. Joseph 41, Hanover 23: The Lions (6-3, 5-3) moved into third place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Hanover fell to 5-4 and 5-2.
Notre Dame 24, Wake Forest 17: Tommy Rees threw two touchdown passes and Notre Dame shut out Wake Forest in the second half. Rees was 14 of 23 for 166 yards with scoring passes of 38 yards to Tyler Eifert and 16 yards to Michael Floyd. Jonas Gray added a 1-yard touchdown run for the Irish (6-3).
They outgained the Demon Deacons 341-297, scored on their first two possessions of the second half and held on to win their second straight.
Tanner Price was 17 of 24 for 187 yards with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Pendergrass. Josh Harris added a 2-yard touchdown run for Wake Forest (5-4), which led 17-10 at halftime.
