DETROIT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Controversy is swirling in the Motor City over the choice of performers at this year's Thanksgiving game at Ford Field.
Canadian rock band Nickleback is slated to perform when the Lions take on the Packers.
The problem some people are having is that Nickleback is a Canadian band. That's not well received by some fans. Some argue a more appropriate Michigan band should have been chosen such as Kid Rock, Bob Seger or even Eminem.
Those against the idea say they want a band that reflects how well the Lions are doing and the rich music history of Detroit.
The backlash seems to be growing. A petition has been started on change-dot-org to get the band replaced. So far it's received more than 42,000 signatures in support.
As it stands right now the band is performing at the game.
