ABC cooks up comedy feast tonight - The Daily News Online: Guy With A Remote

Thanksgiving comes early to ABC’s comedy lineup tonight. And as you might expect from comedies there will be turkey day mishaps galore.

Three of the night's comedies are joining in the fun. Here’s the rundown from ABC:

"The Middle" - "Thanksgiving III" (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET) - Frankie's parents, Pat (Marsha Mason) and Tag (Jerry Van Dyke), invite the Hecks to spend a few days at their house to celebrate Thanksgiving together. But the festivities fall apart quickly when Frankie's sister, Janet (Molly Shannon), and her family also join in. Soon the siblings are at each other's throats over their widely differing parenting techniques. "Suburgatory" - "Thanksgiving" (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) - Depressed that she has to spend Thanksgiving in the suburbs, Tessa convinces Dallas to take her to the city for a girls' day out. During their fun day, they run across George making out with a woman while he was supposed to be "working." Angry with George for lying to her, Tessa confronts him during the Royces' Thanksgiving dinner. Meanwhile Lisa refuses to wear a special dress Sheila picked out for her, so Sheila decides to literally turn up the heat.   "Modern Family" - "Punkin Chunkin" (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET) - When an old neighborhood kid returns to town as a hugely successful internet billionaire (Josh Gad, "Book of Mormon," as Kenneth), it gets Phil thinking of what might have been. Jay feels Manny could use a little dose of constructive criticism, and Cameron is offended when Mitchell questions the authenticity of his colorful childhood stories. It all comes to a head at Thanksgiving with the family is divided between the "Dreamers" and the "Pritchetts" -- and nothing settles the score like a punkin chunkin challenge.

Actress Marilu Henner guest starred on “Unforgettable,” a show about a police detective (Poppy Montgomery as Carrie Wells) with a super memory that allows her to remember everything that ever happened to her. It’s a real-life condition called Superior Autobiographical Memory that Henner, who consults for the show, has herself.

In the Nov. 15 ep “Golden Bird” Henner plays Carrie’s aunt, who is experiencing forgettfulness and has been diagnosed as early-onset Alzheimer’s.

There’s a certain irony in the character, given the memory capability of the actress who played her. But in case you missed it (or thought it was just he role she was playing), Henner’s character tells Carrie, after missing their appointment: “I’m sorry I don’t haveyour powers of recall.”

George Lucas’ recent Bluray release — and further tinkering — of his “Star Wars” films have been met with the expected handwringing among fans.

The writers of “Chuck” are clearly “Star Wars” fans who haven’t hestiated before to express their disdain of where the films have gone, particularly the first prequel, “The Phantom Menace.”

Consider this dialgoue from the Nov. 18 episode, “Chuck Versus the Business Trip.”

Consider:

John Casey (Adam Baldwin) is trying to help Morgan (Joshua Grimes) get his memories of “Star Wars” back, but Casey’s annoyed at his daughter was treated by Morgan.

Casey tells Morgan: “Don’t start with ‘A New Hope.’ That’s old. Nobody likes it. Start with ‘The Phantom Menace.’ Everyone loves ‘The Phantom Menace.’”

Later, after apparently following Casey’s instructions, Morgan returns to Casey and says:

“Did I serious like ‘Phantom Menace’? ‘Cause I’d rather scratch my eyes out than listen to 5 more minutes of Jar Jar Binks.”

“To tell you would be like Superman telling Lex Luther about his vulnerabilities.”

— Agent DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), explaining to Lt. Cmdr. Chaplian Burke (Jaime Ray Newman) why he won’t reveal to her his deepest fears, on NCIS (”Engaged, Part II,” Nov. 15, 2011)

“I will never complain about anything again ... like the price of my DVD by mail service. There are bigger things in the world to worry about.”

— Lab queen Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) while examining evidence from a military plane crash on NCIS (”Engaged, Part II,” Nov. 15, 2011)

— Curtis (Windell Middlebrooks) on Body of Proof (”Love Bites,” nov. 15, 2011)

“I can’t do that, I’m FBI. Our job is to disclose.”

— Booth (David Boreanaz) to Bianca Chiverton (Morgan Fairchild), a toy company CEO who has asked him to sign a non-disclosure agreement, on Bones (”The Prince in the Plastic,” Nov. 17, 2011)

“The girl was clean. No online gambling. No porn. Not even a dirty picture of a congressman.”

— Angela (Michaela Conlin), after examining the laptop of a murder victim, on Bones (”The Prince in the Plastic,” Nov. 17, 2011)

“How did China take over the world with instructions like these.”

— Angela (Michaela Conlin), while trying to put together a baby’s toy, on Bones (”The Prince in the Plastic,” Nov. 17, 2011)

“It’s something Nikita taught me, if you don’t want to go to Plan B, make sure you have a good Plan A.”

— Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) to Sean (Dillon Casey) on Nikita (”Fair Trade,” Nov. 18, 2011)

“Might as well ask me where Carmen Sandiego is, b----, ‘cause I’m not giving up Nikki.”

— Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford) to Amanda (Melinda Clarke) during her interrogation of him on Nikita (”Fair Trade,” Nov. 18, 2011)

“You’re like Bonnie and Clyde ... but without the classic scene.”

— Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford) to Nikita (Maggie Q), describing her relationship with Michael (Shane West) on Nikita (”Fair Trade,” Nov. 18, 2011)

“I’ve been investigating fringe events for three years. Never thought I’d become one.”

— Peter (Joshua Jackson) on Fringe (”Wallflower,” Nov. 18, 2011)

— Eyal (Oded Fehr), a revenge-seeking, maybe-Mossad agent, to CIA Agent Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) on Covert Affairs (”A Girl Like You,” Nov. 15, 2011)
