Wannstedt was forced to resign Dec. 7, after the Panthers went 7-5. He was replaced by Mike Haywood, who was fired on Jan. 2, 2 1/2 weeks after getting the job after being jailed in Indiana on a domestic violence charge. Yesterday, a magistrate entered a not guilty plea for Haywood on the felony charge in a court in South Bend, Ind. Haywood faces 6 months to 3 years in prison if convicted of domestic battery in the presence of a minor. His next appearance is set for Jan. 11. Police say Haywood was arrested last Friday after a custody issue developed with a woman with whom Haywood has a child.
