The Family Kitchen

Apparently Jello shots are all the rage, especially for New Year’s. I’m not a drinker, otherwise would probably know this. This is my recipe for kid-friendly Jello shots. Though you may think all normal jello is kid friendly, it isn’t as special as this recipe.

These kid-friendly Jell-o shots are made a little more sophisticated. Instead of using jell-o spiked with alcohol, instead, this recipe makes a delicious non-alcoholic sparkling juice, and turns it into something jiggly and fun.

Martinelli’s are one of my favorite products in the whole world. Not only are they delicious, but they are healthy, too. They have no added sugar and are not even made from concentrate. They are the perfect way to celebrate with children, pregnant women, and non drinkers.

For more ideas of kid-friendly drinks, see babble’s recent slideshow of drinks that are safe for pregnant women.

1 1/2 cups grapes, raspberries, blackberries, or any other kind of colorful berry

1. Place 1/4 cup apple juice in a small bowl and sprinkle with gelatin. Bring the remainder of the apple juice to a boil in a medium saucepan set over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in gelatin mixture. Mix with Martinelli’s and pour into small plastic cups (smaller than the picture).

2. Place cups on a large tray and refrigerate for one hour. Add in a small handful of grapes and berries to each, and continue refrigerating until firm.
