COLLEGEVILLE — State Reps. Warren Kampf, Marcy Toepel, Mike Vereb and Tom Quigley encourage their constituents to attend a public forum to discuss a proposal to toll Route 422. The event will take place Tuesday at Pope John Paul II High School.
In June, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission unveiled a proposal to levy a toll on Route 422. This event provides a public forum for those residents who would be impacted by any proposed tolls to voice their opinions and ask questions.
“Any proposal affecting Route 422 needs to have public input,” Vereb said. “I have stated my opposition to tolling in the past, but I am looking forward to discussing this issue with my constituents. This event is a great opportunity for the people who use the road everyday to voice their opinions.”
“While I am strongly opposed to this, I want to hear from the people who would be most affected by this plan,” Toepel said. “This event will give you the chance to ask questions and voice your concerns.”
“The taxpayers have already paid for the repair and upgrading of Route 422 with their gas tax and motor licensing fees,” Kampf said.
“Since this proposal was unveiled, my office has gotten a lot of feedback about the idea of tolling Route 422,” said Quigley. “This forum is about getting people together in one room so the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission can state its case for the tolls and get direct comment from those citizens who will be impacted by the plan.”
The evening’s panelists include: Toepel; Kampf ; Vereb; Quigley; Stan Huskey, Times Herald editor; Barry Seymour, executive director of the DVRPC; and Montgomery County Commissioner and former DVRPC Board Chairman Joe Hoeffel.
This is an interactive event, with residents encouraged to submit questions for the panelists throughout the evening. Pope John Paul II High School is located at 181 Rittenhouse Road, Royersford.
The event will start at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
