NEW MARTINSVILLE-Jayson Keller ran for two touchdowns and 130 yards to lead Magnolia to a 17-0 victory over visiting River (Ohio) Friday night. Michael Jones got the Blue Eagles, now 2-2 on the season, on the board with a 26-yard field goal with 3:55 left in the first quarter of action.

Keller, who rushed the football 26 times and caught eight passes for 52 yards, scored from 12 yards out with 45 seconds left until the half and then added a 3-yard score with 2:30 left in the game to put the win away.

Magnolia now takes a week off before playing host to Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.

FLATWOODS-In a battle of state ranked (Class AA) teams, Ritchie County came up with two big second half interceptions as well as a game-ending stand inside its own 20 to hold off host Braxton County by a 20-12 score.

Ritchie (4-0) took the lead for good on a 60-yard run by senior Reno Jackson and a Chazz Jones PAT with 5:47 left in the third quarter then interceptions by the Rebels' Ryder Bolin and Bryce Powell ended two drives by the Eagles that had penetrated deep into Ritchie County territory and a touchdown run by Darrenger Goff with 7:14 left to play iced the game away.

HAMLIN-Senior David Hicks rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown and Jamin Jones kicked a 32-yard field goal and connected on all three of his PATs to lead Ripley to a 24-20 victory over host Lincoln County in a Mountain State Athletic Conference showdown Friday night.

The Vikings (2-2), who play host to Woodrow Wilson next Friday at 7:30 p.m., got on the board first on an 8-yard run by Taryn Matheny and took a 17-12 halftime lead on an 83-yard kickoff return by Anthony Michaels.

WEST UNION-Taylor Campbell passed for 236 yards and three touchdowns and Dalton Brindo caught six passes for 119 yards and a pair of scores as No. 9 Class A Wirt County upended No. 12 Doddridge County by a 33-6 score.

A 6-yard run by Aaron Orr opened the scoring for the Tigers (4-0) with 7:22 remaining in the first quarter. But, a 12-yard pass from David Lipscomb to Will Thaxton pulled the hosts to within one, 7-6, four minutes later.

However, those would be the only points scored by the Bulldogs as leading rusher Corey Aichele, who finished with 92 yards on 14 carries, missed the second half with a concussion while Wirt put the game away on touchdown passes of eight yards to Nicholas Alt and 25 yards to Brindo.

REEDSVILLE-Wildcats' quarterback Trevor Lang misfired on his first pass of the night, but then completed 13 in a row to lead visiting Waterford to a 20-12 victory over host Eastern Friday night.

Lang finished with 261 yards and one touchdown on 13-of-16 attempts as Waterford improved to 3-1 on the season with a road game at Wahama Friday.

BEVERLY-Max Alsbach's PAT with 7:14 left in the second quarter proved to be the winning point as host Fort Frye (3-1) held off visiting River Valley (1-3) by a 13-12 score Friday night.

Chandler Lang rushed for 68 yards and scored on a 6-yard run in the first and hit Tyler Schilling with a 7-yard scoring pass as Fort Frye took a 13-0 lead into the second half.

Trey Noble returned the second half kickoff 83 yards for River's first points of the game and Austin Whobrey pulled the visitors to within one on an 11-yard run with 2:07 on the clock, but that would be as close as they would get.

PADEN CITY -Taylor Still rushed for 276 yards and scored four touchdowns as Paden City claimed its first victory of the season with a 47-6 victory against Gilmer County on Friday night.

The Wildcats scored 40 points in the first half, including 25 in the second quarter thanks to Still's 30- and 70-yard touchdown runs.

Gilmer's lone touchdown occurred early in the second quarter when quarterback Austin Cunningham found Austin Ratliff open for a 12-yard TD strike. Cunningham threw 43 times for 186 yard for the 0-4 Titans.

SPENCER-Nathan Reynolds rushed for 117 yards and one score and Dylan Cottrell added 102 yards and two touchdowns as Roane County held off a late Webster County comeback to post a 23-14 win Friday night.

Wes Linkinogger added one PAT and blocked a Webster County punt out of the end zone for safety as the Raiders improved to 2-1 on the season with a game at Lincoln next Friday night.

CALDWELL - Squaring off against a talented Caldwell Redskin team that was averaging 397 yards and 39 points per game, the Monroe Central Seminoles knew exactly what they had to do to get a victory Friday night.

It was no real secret. In fact, the Caldwell Redskins knew what the Seminoles needed to do, too - take away the Redskin ground attack with Adam Rossiter and run the ball themselves.

Thing is, with everybody in attendance knowing what the game plan was, the Seminoles still executed it.

Monroe Central held Caldwell to just 143 yards of total offense, 74 of it on one play, and without a first down in the second half while three different backs for the Seminoles rushed for at least 90 yards as Monroe Central took a 41-14 win at the Noble County Fairgrounds Friday night.

VINCENT - The Warren Warriors used a dominant defensive performance to down the Portsmouth Trojans 51-21 in SEOAL action Friday night in Vincent.

The tenacious Warrior defense sacked Trojan quarterback Mason Jordan six times and forced eight

Senior Josh Mays starred on both sides of the ball for the Warriors, rushing a game-high 156 yards on 23 carries including a 26-yard touchdown run, and also intercepted three passes to pace Warren.

Class A No. 1 ranked Williamstown improved to 3-0 after winning on the road against South Harrison, 42-0, Friday night.

The Yellowjackets return home next Friday to play Calhoun County for its homecoming game.
