Blog: Updates of Notre Dame-Michigan and other games

It's the second Saturday of the college football season, and there's plenty of intriguing matchups on this week's schedule.

It starts early with No. 22 Auburn hosting No. 17 Mississippi State. In the afternoon, the marquee matchup of the day comes when No. 2 Alabama travels to No. 20 Penn State along with No. 12 South Carolina at Georgia.

The first night game at Michigan Stadium when Notre Dame faces Michigan is the highlight of the evening games.

Stay tuned to Campus Rivalry all day as we provide updates from across the country.

1 1:41 p.m.: Notre Dame fumbles on the kickoff and Michigan recovers to secure a 35-31 victory. That's all she wrote from Ann Arbor of an amazing game that saw 35 points scored in the final quarter, including three touchdowns in the final 1:12 left. Big victory for the Wolverines and Brady Hoke, who knock off the Irish for the third time in the final minute. For Brian Kelly, it is an 0-2 start and major concerns for the program with Michigan State coming to town.

11:38 p.m.: Michigan needs just 28 seconds to go 80 yards in a remarkable finish in Ann Arbor. After Denard Robinson hit Jeremy Gallon for a 64-yard pass with eight seconds left, the Wolverines passed on a field goal and went to the end zone. Robinson hit Roy Roundtree for a 16-yard touchdown with two seconds left. Michigan leads 35-31.

11:32 p.m.: Notre Dame is back ahead 31-28. Tommy Rees finds Theo Reddick down the middle on a blown coverage by the Michigan secondary for a 29-yard touchdown with 30 seconds left. The go-ahead drive went 61 yards in less than a minute.

11:29 p.m.: Thick drama in Ann Arbor. Just 41 seconds left and Notre Dame has moved to the Michigan 29. Irish trail 28-24 and have one timeout left.

11:25 p.m.: And just like that Michigan is ahead of Notre Dame. Denard Robinson hits Vincent Smith on a throwback screen, and Smith weaves through the Irish defense for a 21-yard touchdown. Wolverines take a 28-24 lead with just more than a minute left. Brian Kelly's offense needs to get cranked up to avoid a third straight close loss to its rival.

11:20 p.m.: Michigan's defense stiffens again. A three-and-out gets the Wolverines the ball back on their 42 with just more than two minutes left. They need field goal to tie and touchdown to win with Notre Dame leading 24-21.

11:16 p.m.: Michigan moved quickly moved to the Notre Dame 30 when Denard Robinson hit Junior Hemmingway for a 45-yard pass down the middle and drew a personal foul penalty. But on the next play, Robinson was picked off by Robert Blanton in the end zone. Irish take over with a 24-21 lead and just more than four minutes left.

11:11 p.m.: Notre Dame moved inside the Michigan 10 helped by a 3rd-and-15 conversion on a pass from Tommy Rees to Tyler Eifert. However, Rees committed his third turnover of the game when he fumbled attempting to throw. Michigan recovers with just under six minutes left and has a chance to take or take the lead trailing 24-21.

10:55 p.m.: Michigan has seized some momentum against Notre Dame. After closing within 10, the Wolverines hold the Irish without a first down and get the ball back just 40 yards from Notre Dame's end zone. Still plenty of time in the fourth quarter for an unlikely rally.

10:52 p.m.: We've seen a wild finish in Los Angeles. Driving for a game-tying field goal, Utah was stopped on fourth down. But a review changed the spot and gave them a second chance. A pass interference on USC allowed the Utes to try a field goal. It was blocked and returned for a touchdown. However, a penalty on the Trojans sideline nullified the score. It ends USC 17, Utah 14.

10:45 p.m.: Just like they drew it up, Stephen Hopkins fumbles diving over the pile at the goal line, Denard Robinson then picks up the ball and strolls into the end zone for a Michigan touchdown. Notre Dame's lead is trimmed to 24-14 after the first play of the fourth quarter.

10:41 p.m.: End of three quarters in Ann Arbor. Michigan knocking on the door at the Notre Dame 1 on third down when play resumes. Need a touchdown here with the Irish ahead 24-7/

10:37 p.m.: USC forces a punt by Utah with just more than two minutes. Trojans lead 17-14 and can run out the clock with a first down or will have to punt the ball back to the Utes.

10:34 p.m.: Notre Dame pads its lead to 24-7 as it finally cashes in on another red zone opportunity. Tommy Rees hits TJ Jones for a 15-yard touchdown to give the Irish some breathing room against Michigan in a game they have dominated.

10:32 p.m.: Utah is a touchdown away from beating USC in the first Pac-12 game ever played. The problem is the Utes are 95 yards away from the end zone. On a positive note, a field goal will send the game to overtime with the Trojans ahead 17-14 and just more than four minutes left.

10:26 p.m.: Michigan gives it right back to Notre Dame when Denard Robinson throws into double coverage over the middle and Zeke Motta picks him off. Irish take over at their 29.

10:22 p.m.: Familiar refrain for Notre Dame. Irish drive deep into opponents territory and make a critical mistake. Cierre Wood fumbles, Michigan recovers and the Wolverines still have life trailing 17-7 midway through the third quarter.

10:18 p.m.: Minus one big play, the Michigan offense has been kept in check by Notre Dame. Irish stop the Wolverines again and have the ball back with a 17-7 lead. Denard Robinson is just 2-of-10 for 48 yards passing.

10:15 p.m.: Texas hangs on against Brigham Young in what looks to be a program-changing win for the Longhorns. Garrett Gilbert is likely out as quarterback with Case McCoy taking over primary duties with freshman David Ash seeing time. We'll see how it works going forward with UCLA up next.

10:10 p.m.: Notre Dame gets to midfield on its first drive of the second half before having to punt. Ben Tuck pins Michigan on its 10. Wolverines take over trailing 17-7.

10:05 p.m.: Indiana is staging quite a rally against Virginia. The Hoosiers trailed 23-10, but have scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lead the Cavaliers 31-23 in what could be coach Kevin Wilson's first win at the school.

10 p.m.: Brigham Young gets a big defensive stop. The Cougars take over with just more than five minutes left and trail Texas 17-16.

9:56 p.m.: Heading to the fourth quarter in Lincoln. Nebraska is clinging to a 21-20 lead on Fresno State in a performance that cannot make Cornhuskers coach Bo Pelini happy.

9:50 p.m.: Texas has its first lead against Brigham Young on Cody Johnson's 4-yard touchdown run. Sophomore quarterback Case McCoy has given some life to the Longhorns, who are up 17-16 midway through the fourth quarter.

9:45 p.m.: Utah has 32 California natives on its roster, so a number of Utes had homecomings Saturday when Utah made its Pac-12 Conference debut. None of them were going particularly well midway through the third quarter, with the Utes trailing 17-7 and being handled physically by the Trojans.

Particularly disappointing was the return of Utah running back John White, who had shined by rushing for 150 yards and scoring two touchdowns in the Utes' season-opening 27-10 victory against Montana State last week.

White, a little man (5-8, 186) from Torrance, Calif., who transferred from L.A. Harbor (Junior) College, was hoping to make a big impact in the game.

But, midway through the third quarter, with the Utes down by 10 and basically abandoning the running game, White had carried 14 times for only 23 yards. -- David Leon Moore

9:42 p.m.: Michigan chooses to go conservative at the end of the first half and runs out the clock. Notre Dame takes a 17-7 advantage into the locker room and will get the ball first at the start of the second half. The Irish have dominated most of the play, so the Wolverines should feel fortunate to get out down only 10.

9:38 p.m.: Notre Dame extends its lead with 38-yard field goal by David Ruffer. Irish got the ball in good field position after again stopping the Michigan offense. Their lead is 17-7 with under two minutes left in the first half.

9:35 p.m.: Nebraska needed almost 37 minutes to take the lead on Fresno State. Taylor Martinez hits Quincy Enunwa for a 16-yard touchdowns, and the Huskers are out front 21-20 midway through the third.

9:31 p.m.: And just like that Notre Dame gives the ball back to Michigan. Tommy Rees is intercepted for the second time by the Wolverines defense. JT Floyd does the honors inside the Michigan 5. Even though the Irish lead 14-7 will Brian Kelly overlook the two mistakes by his quarterback?

9:28 p.m.: Facing 2nd-and-26, Michael Floyd pulls in a 25-yard catch on the sideline for Notre Dame. The Irish convert on third and are driving deep in Michigan territory with a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

9:25 p.m.: USC has gone ahead of Utah 17-7 early in the third quarter. Matt Barkley hit Xavier Grimble three times on an 88-yard drive, the last for 12 yards and a touchdown.

9:20 p.m.: Charlie Weis seems to have had a good impact on the Florida offense so far. John Brantley has thrown for almost 200 yards and the Gators are rolling against UAB 32-0.

9:15 p.m.: Michigan has its first big play of the game when Jake Kovacs intercepts Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees. Two plays later, it gets another boost as quarterback Denard Robinson hits Junior Hemmingway for a 43-yard score. Irish now only lead 14-7 early in the second quarter.

9:07 p.m.: Texas responds with its first possession and marches down the field for a touchdown with all 62 yards coming on the ground. BYU still leads, but it is now 13-10 in the third quarter.

9 p.m.: Case McCoy set to go in as Texas quarterback after the Longhorns stop BYU on the first drive of the second half. Cougars still lead 13-3.

8:55 p.m.: A big stop for the Michigan defense after Notre Dame intercepted Denard Robinson. That holds the score at 14-0 in favor of the Irish. Wolverines need to get moving on offense early in the second quarter.

8:50 p.m.: Fresno State tacks on a field goal late in the second quarter and should take a 17-14 lead on Nebraska into intermission. A disappointing finish for the Bulldogs, who had 1st-and-goal but could not punch it in.

8:43 p.m.: This is a completely different Notre Dame team compared to last week. Irish have shut down the Michigan offense on two possessions and Tommy Rees had led two touchdown drives, the second being converted on a 4-yard run by Cierre Wood. It's 14-0 and the life has been sucked out of the Big House.

8:37 p.m.: Nearing halftime in Lincoln and it is Fresno State that leads No. 10 Nebraska 14-7. This wouldn't be the first time the Bulldogs have gone on the road and given a larger school a scare in the second half.

8:33 p.m.: Southern Cal having another strong first half. Trojans lead Utah 10-0 in the first Pac-12 game ever played. We'll see if Lane Kiffin's team can keep it going in the second half.

8:28 p.m.: Texas has a field goal set up by an interception of Brigham Young quarterback Jake Heaps. But it could have been a touchdown on a short field, however the Longhorns offense is scrambling right now. They trail 13-3.

8:23 p.m.: Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees hits Theo Reddick for a 7-yard score on third down to put the Irish up 7-0 on Michigan. Great start for the Irish, who nearly fumbled away the ball inside the 10, which would have been just like last week's opening drive against South Florida.

8:17 p.m.: It's all over in Athens. South Carolina wins a wild affair 45-42 with four huge plays on defense and special teams that led to four touchdowns. Georgia falls to 0-2, and the heat is on coach Mark Richt. Too many mistakes for the Bulldogs.

8:15 p.m.: The ball is in the air in Ann Arbor. Michigan gets the first possession against Notre Dame. Throwback uniforms for both teams look good. Hope the game matches them.

8:12 p.m.: And Texas has made a quarterback switch. Two interceptions by Garrett Gilbert have forced the Longhorns hand. Case McCoy, Colt's brother, is in with Brigham Young leading 13-0.

8:07 p.m.: As Notre Dame takes the field in their throwback uniforms, Georgia has pulled closer to South Carolina on Tavarres King's 33-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Murray. Still more than two minutes and three timeouts left for the Bulldogs.

8:oo p.m.: Another big play by the South Carolina defense has put the Gamecocks up 10. After a 3-yard run by Marcus Lattimore put USC up 38-35 on Georgia, freshman Jadeveon Clowney forced a fumble by Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray. Melvin Ingram recovered and scored from 5 yards. It's now 45-35 with less than four minutes left.

7:48 p.m.: South Carolina went ahead on a field goal, but Georgia responded with a touchdown by Isaiah Crowell. The score is the second by the true freshman running back, who is having a coming-out party. Bulldogs lead 35-31.

7:33 p.m.: Brigham Young has its second field goal of the first quarter, and the Cougars lead No. 21 Texas 6-0. Longhorns don't have a first down in their first two possessions.

7:24 p.m.: Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray responds to his interception against South Carolina by going 8-for-8 on a touchdown drive capped by a 19-yard throw to Michael Bennett. He then hit Tavarres King on a two-point conversion and we're tied at 28.

7:11 p.m.: Lightning has struck twice for South Carolina. Stephon Gilmore first returned a fumble inside the Georgia 5 to set up a go-ahead touchdown for the Gamecocks, then Antonio Allen intercepted Aaron Murray and return it 25 yards for a score. South Carolina leads 28-20 with three scores set up by long returns.

6:57 p.m.: Alabama runs out the clock and secures a 27-11 defeat of Penn State. Solid win on the road by the Tide. AJ McCarron was solid at quarterback, and the defense lived up to its billing. The Nittany Lions had a strong start, but three turnovers were the key against the Tide, who made almost no mistakes.

6:53 p.m.: Georgia has gone back ahead of South Carolina as Aaron Murray hits Isaiah Crowell out of the backfield for a 16-yard touchdown. Bulldogs up 20-14 with a little more than six minutes left in the third quarter.

6:50 p.m.: And Penn State has found the end zone with 1:53 left. Silas Redd scores on a 1-yard touchdown run, then Robert Bolden run in a 2-point conversion. Onside kick upcoming with Alabama up 27-11.

6:45 p.m.: Dominant all game, Virginia Tech's defense got another stop and that will secure a 17-10 win for the Hokies at East Carolina. Not surprising that Tech struggled on the road, but it needs more from quarterback Logan Thomas if it wants to contend for another ACC title.

6:39 p.m.: East Carolina's defense gets a needed stop. Pirates take over on their 34 with 3:31 left in the game. They trail No. 11 Virginia Tech 17-10. This could be their last chance.

6:34 p.m.: The fumble by Penn State appeared to take the life out of its defense. Alabama quickly march for a touchdown on a 13-yard run by Trent Richardson. Tide rolling up 27-3 with 6:14 left from Happy Valley.

6:30 p.m.: Penn State was having its best drive since the first quarter, but Devin Smith fumbled on a reverse. Alabama jumps on the ball and takes over with a 20-3 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

6:26 p.m.: And we have a Virginia Tech touchdown. Taking out a key third-down throw by Logan Thomas, the Hokies did almost all the damage on the 89-yard drive on the ground. Josh Oglesby finds pay dirt on a 10-yard run, and Tech leads East Carolina with 7:30 left.

6:21 p.m.: A very nice bounce back by No. 25 TCU after its loss to Baylor in the opener. Horned Frogs are up 35-12 on Air Force in the fourth quarter. Casey Pachall has throw for two scores. Matthew Tucker has run in two as well.

6:18 p.m.: Virginia Tech has crossed midfield with the running of David Wilson doing most of the damage. Hokies are tied with East Carolina at 10 midway through the fourth quarter.

6:13 p.m.: Penn State can't get much further than midfield against Alabama and is forced to punt. Tide lead 20-3 with 13 minutes left. The Lions have done nothing against a stingy defense since their first drive of the game.

6:08 p.m.: Going to the fourth quarter in Happy Valley. Penn State about to receive a punt trailing 20-3. Also done with the first 45 minutes are Virginia Tech and East Carolina. They're tied at 10.

6:04 p.m.: Stanford is pulling away from Duke. Jeremy Stewart just went 30 yards for a touchdown run. No. 6 Cardinal lead late in the third quarter 30-7.

5:59 p.m.: Steve Spurrier pulls a trick out of his playbook. With just more than two minutes left in the half, a fake punt on 4th-and-7 from his 32 goes for a 68-yard touchdown run by Melvin Ingram. South Carolina leads Georgia 14-13.

5:57 p.m.: Alabama got to the Penn State 1-yard line, but settles for an 18-yard field goal. Big stand for the Nittany Lions, but they trail 20-3 and need some offense quickly to make this a game.

5:55 p.m.: A short drive for an East Carolina field goal has tied things up at 10 Greenville. Virginia Tech gets the ball back late in the third quarter.

5:52 p.m.: A Marquis Maze punt return set up Alabama near midfield. The Tide have penetrated the Penn State 30 on the drive. They still lead 17-3 in the third quarter.

5:47 p.m.: And we have a response from Georgia. After the passing game struggled much of the first half, Aaron Murray hits Rantavious Wooten for 26-yard touchdown. Bulldogs go ahead of South Carolina 13-7.

5:40 p.m.: Slow start for Penn State and Alabama. Neither team able to get a first down on its opening drive of the second half plus consecutive reviews of possible Tide interceptions have taken some time. Still 12 minutes left in the third quarter with Alabama leading 17-3.

5:37 p.m.: And just like that, South Carolina leads Georgia 7-6 with Stephen Garcia scrambling to his right and hitting Alshon Jeffery in the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown. Will be interesting to see how the Bulldogs respond after dominating the action until that last drive.

5:30 p.m.: Virginia Tech looks like a new team in the second half. Hokies have no penalties and march 78 yards in eight plays for a touchdown on a 1-yard run by Josh Oglesby. East Carolina gets the ball on its first possession in the third quarter trailing 10-7.

5:28 p.m.: And we're underway in the second half between Penn State and Alabama. Tide will start with the ball first and lead 17-3.

5:23 p.m.: Oregon has gone to halftime with a 41-7 lead on Nevada. Ducks finding the offensive success they failed to have against LSU last week. Darron Thomas has thrown for five touchdowns, LaMichael James has caught one for a score and run in another.

5:17 p.m.: Blair Walsh missed a field goal that would have given Georgia a 9-0 lead on South Carolina in the second quarter. Bulldogs are playing inspired football, but haven't landed a knockout punch because they cannot get into the end zone.

5:12 p.m.: Andrew Luck throws a touchdown pass late in the second quarter - his second of the game - and Stanford leads Duke 17-7. Game effort so far by the Blue Devils.

5:07 p.m.: Georgia now up 6-0 on South Carolina after Blair Walsh's second field goal of the game was set up by an interception of Stephen Garcia. Bulldogs could be up more except they can't find the end zone.

5:03 p.m.: Halftime in Greenville with East Carolina ahead of Virginia Tech 7-3 after a late field goal by the No. 11 Hokies. Been a flat effort so far from Frank Beamer's team with eight penalties, though the defense has shut down the Pirates except for one drive.

5:01 p.m.: And on the next play, Trent Richardson scores on a 3-yard touchdown run. Happy Valley gets quiet with Alabama ahead of Penn State 17-3 late in the first half.

4:58 p.m.: Into the final minute of the first half from Happy Valley. Alabama driving again on a methodical march that started with the Penn State fumble. AJ McCarron just converted a big third down to the Lions 3.

4:55 p.m.: A couple of big runs by Isaiah Crowell moved Georgia into field-goal range. Blair Walsh converts on a 37-yard kick. Bulldogs lead South Carolina 3-0 early in the first quarter.

4:50 p.m.: Late in the second quarter and Virginia Tech is still being blanked by East Carolina. Hokies have made a ton of mistakes and gone scoreless in two red zone trips. Pirates lead 7-0.

4:45 p.m.: Duke isn't hanging around with No. 6 Stanford. Lee Butler just intercepted Andrew Luck off a tipped pass and returned it 77 yards for a score. Cardinal lead is just 10-7 late in the second quarter.

4:38 p.m.: And we're underway from Athens. South Carolina gets the first crack against the Georgia defense. No change in the score from Happy Valley. Alabama still leads 10-3.

4:30 p.m.: Another nice drive for Alabama. The Tide, however, had to settle for a field goal when Penn State stiffened inside its 10. Nittany Lions now trail 10-3 and need some first downs for field position and to give their defense a rest.

4:25 p.m.: Oregon is showing no hangover after its loss to LSU. Ducks have three touchdowns early against Nevada and lead 20-0. The most-recent score came on a 44-yard pass from Darron Thomas to LaMichael James.

4:20 p.m.: End of the first quarter and East Carolina leads Virginia Tech 7-0 in Greenville. Some sloppy play early from the Hokies, including a missed field goal. They have the ball at midfield.

4:15 p.m.: Alabama has its first points after barely converting a fourth down gamble. A Marquis Maze catch set up the Tide deep in Penn State territory, and then AJ McCarron hit Michael Williams on third down for seven points. It's 7-3 late in the first quarter.

4:11 p.m.: And Auburn hangs on by inches. Mississippi State quarterback Chris Relf is stopped at the goal line in the final seconds and time runs out on the Bulldogs before they can snap the ball. Tigers win 41-34. Going to be that kind of year for the defending champs.

4:08 p.m.: Defenses are dominating so far between Penn State and Alabama. Yards are tough to come by for both teams. Alabama came inches short of its initial first down of the game. Nick Saban decides to punt. But then runs a fake and get it by a nose. Going to be that type of game.

4:05 p.m.: Mississippi State calls timeout with 26 seconds left. Bulldogs are inside the Auburn 10 in need of a game-tying touchdown. They still have one timeout left.

4:02 p.m.: It needed three overtimes, but Iowa State knocks off rival Iowa 44-41 with a touchdown run of 4 yards by James White. Big win for the Cyclones against the Hawkeyes.

3:58 p.m.: Penn State gets a 44-yard field on a long, time-consuming march to open the game. Alabama gets its first crack down 3-0. Mississippi State's defense forces a punt and the offense will have a chance to tie Auburn with the score 41-34 and three minutes left.

3:53 p.m.: Mississippi State is within seven of Auburn after Vick Ballard's 3-yard touchdown run with just under five minutes left capped an 83-yard drive. Time for the Bulldogs defense to get the ball back.

3:50 p.m.: Tennessee and Cincinnati have swapped touchdowns in the first minutes of the first quarter. Meanwhile. Penn State still marching on its first drive but has used all three of its timeouts against Alabama.

3:44 p.m.: Penn State have crossed into Alabama's side of the field after two first downs on the game's opening drive, but the Lions already have used two timeouts. They'll try to convert a 3rd-and-6 after the break.

3:40 p.m.: Mississippi State gets a needed defensive stop against Auburn. Bulldogs trail 41-27 and need some quick offense with just 8:24 remaining in the game.

3:35 p.m.: Penn State wins the toss and elects to receive. Robert Bolden will start at quarterback for the Nittany Lions and will face the stingy Alabama defense. Joe Paterno will again coach from the press box.

3:31 p.m.: No. 24 West Virginia finally has taken charge against Norfolk State after trailing at half. Four touchdowns in the third quarter, including two passing scores by Geno Smith, have the Mountaineers ahead 38-12.

3:27 p.m.: And Ohio State will survive. Pressure on Toledo quarterback Terrance Owens on fourth down forced an errant pass. Buckeyes take over and can run out the final seconds and beat the Rockets 27-22.

3:21 p.m.: Barrett Trotter hits Philip Lutzenkirchen for a 10-yard touchdown pass and Auburn has extended its lead on Mississippi State 41-27 early in the fourth quarter. The running game of the Tigers is much better than last week with Michael Dyer doing most of the damage.

3:10 p.m.: A defensive stop by Ohio State has given the ball back to the Buckeyes with under four minutes left. OSU clinging to a 27-22 lead against Toledo and could use a first down or two to milk the clock.

3:00 p.m.: West Virginia responds quickly at the start of the third quarter. Mountaineers march 69 yards in three plays with a 3-yard touchdown run by Vernard Roberts putting them ahead of Norfolk State 17-12.

2:53 p.m.: Wisconsin about to put the finishing touches on a 35-0 defeat of Oregon State. This one was never close with Russell Wilson again having a big performance at quarterback for the No. 9 Badgers. Next up is a game against Northern Illinois.

2:48 p.m.: An excellent return of the kickoff to the start of the third quarter set Auburn up in good field position. The Tigers convert a field goal by and up their lead on Mississippi State to 34-24.

2:45 p.m.: It's early in the fourth quarter and Iowa State, which barely beat Northern Iowa last week, is ahead of Iowa 17-16. Steele Jantz has thrown for two touchdowns and has the Cyclones on the move again.

2:40 p.m.: And Kentucky's offense has exploded. The Wildcats stopped a Central Michigan gamble on fourth down then Morgan Newton hit La'Rod King for a 34-yard touchdown on the next play. Josh Clemons followed that with a 87-yard touchdown run and UK leads 20-13.

2:35 p.m.: Ohio State is back ahead of Toledo on Carlos Hyde's second touchdown run of the game. Buckeyes went for two and failed. Their lead is 27-22 late in the third quarter.

2:30 p.m.: Make that a fourth field goal of the first half for Norfolk State and a 12-10 halftime lead against No. 24 West Virginia. Mountaineers are beyond flat for this game.

2:20 p.m.: Toledo is not going away. Adonis Thomas just scored on a 4-yard touchdown run for the Rockets, who lead 22-21 against Ohio State midway through the third quarter.

2:15 p.m.: Auburn uses the final minute effectively and with the help of a Mississippi State personal penalty gets a field goal by Cody Parkey with five seconds left in the half. Tigers take a 31-24 advantage into the locker room.

2:10 p.m.: It doesn't get more dominating than the performance by No. 16 Michigan State against Florida Atlantic. Late in the first quarter, the Spartans lead 35-0 and have 24 first downs to just one by the Owls.

2:05 p.m.: Mississippi State has added a Derek DePasquale field goal to trim Auburn's lead to 28-24 late in the second quarter. Still some time for the Tigers to score before intermission.

2 p.m.: Another possible upset brewing in the Commonwealth. Central Michigan is out front of Kentucky 13-6 in the third quarter just two days after Florida International went to Louisville and beat the Cardinals 24-17.

1:55 p.m.: A surprise score after one quarter at West Virginia. Norfolk State is leading the No. 24 Mountaineers 3-0 and have dominating yardage advantage. WVU clearly not ready to play.

1:50 p.m.: The scoring continues in Auburn. Michael Dyer twists his way into the end zone on a 2-yard touchdown run and the Tigers lead Mississippi State 28-21 late in the second quarter.

1:45 p.m.: End of the first 30 minutes in Madison. Wisconsin is rolling against Oregon State 21-0. Russell Wilson again is having a big day. He is 12-of-14 for 124 yards and all three touchdowns.

1:40 p.m.: Ohio State and Toledo have gone to halftime. The Rockets led 15-8, but the Buckeyes got two late touchdowns, including a punt return of 69 yards by Chris Fields with one minute left in the half. OSU leads 21-15.

1:35 p.m.: Fireworks are flying fast and furious in the first 20 minutes from Auburn. Both teams have interception returns for touchdowns. Tigers wide receiver Emory Blake just caught a 46-yard touchdown to tie up Mississippi State 21-21.
