American Business Media and the Society of Independent Show Organizers Form Strategic Alliance

NEW YORK, NY and SANTA MONICA, CA, Jul 26, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- American Business Media (ABM) and the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) today entered into an agreement in which the two organizations will form a strategic alliance to exchange information, education and provide certain member benefits to members of the other organization. This alliance is part of a joint effort to leverage all available expertise to assist ABM and SISO members in adapting to and accelerating the delivery of new product lines, business expansion and enhanced value to marketers in the evolving digital age.

ABM and SISO executives signed an agreement outlining their intention to partner in the development and/or implementation of projects for one another or on a joint basis. For example, the associations will work together to create new educational and training opportunities as well as complement existing programs for the benefit of members of both organizations. In certain cases, each group will extend its member rates to members of the other association, and each will assist its members who wish to explore opportunities within the other.

The two organizations also will cooperate in promoting one another, not only to their own members but also through their relationships with like-minded industry organizations, businesses, government and the general public.

Clark Pettit, ABM President and CEO, said, "Events are one of the pillars of the b-to-b industry and provide unique opportunities for audience engagement, lead generation and business growth, especially when combined with digital media, business information, print and marketing services."

Pettit continued, "ABM endeavors to provide our members even greater access to the unique expertise that SISO brings in developing, managing and growing events. We also look forward to engaging SISO members with our multi-platform efforts, especially around mobile and social media. In today's economic environment, it is vital that we avoid duplication of efforts and maximize complementary expertise."

Lew Shomer, Executive Director of SISO, added, "The crossover between all media through the use of digital and electronic technologies seems to complement both organizations' objectives, and this relationship will be able to create a path for each of our memberships to learn from the other. New revenue opportunities through the use of content and distribution have always been the mainstay of face-to-face marketing, and each of the memberships will experience how to add value to their existing businesses by learning from others. We believe this is a perfect route for each membership to join on the journey."
