EAST PEORIA — Six seniors from The State Journal-Register area have been selected to play in the Illinois Coaches Association All-Star Baseball Games scheduled for Saturday at EastSide Centre in East Peoria.
There will be two games, with the first game set for 5 p.m. The teams will be split into East and West squads, and players were selected regardless of their school’s playoff classification.
The lone area player on the East team is Lincoln outfielder Ryan Aper. The West team will include Pleasant Plains pitcher Dan Reiser, Carrollton pitcher Sammy Coonrod, Pleasant Plains shortstop Will Frey, Sacred Heart-Griffin third baseman Michael Hurwitz and Jacksonville outfielder Caleb Howell.
