BE PART OF THE AMAZING PLACE THAT IS THE INTERNET

The internet is an every growing phenomenon. With more information than any human could possibly read, more videos than we could watch in several lifetimes and more pictures than the traditional paper print could ever show without a complete drain on the resources of the planet.

But that information is growing all the time. Not just by the year, the day, or even the hour, but quite literally all the time.

Every single minute, there is an almost unbelievable amount of information shared on the web. Every 60 seconds, over 6,600 photos are uploaded to Flickr, search engine Google serves more than 694,445 queries, 600 videos are uploaded to YouTube, amounting to 25+ hours of content, 695,000 status updates, 79,364 wall posts and 510,040 comments are published on social networking site Facebook, 320 new accounts and 98,000 tweets are generated on social networking site Twitter, iPhone applications are downloaded more than 13,000 times, 370,000+ minutes of voice calls done by Skype users and a staggering  168,000,000+ emails are sent.

Remember, this is every single minute of every single day!

It might seem scary, but it´s not really. Most of the information is shared across the entire planet remember, not all being sent to one person. Even the best Tweets could never cope with replying to that amount of messages.

Now, the good news is that you can be part of it and learn with ease how to start “Going Social”. The Leader and Exite Radio´s Mark Nolan, himself never off Twitter or Facebook, has created an easy to understand set of presentations called “Going Social - An introduction to Social Networking” (Or, looking at things like Twitter and Facebook in a simple way that we can all understand!).

The course is aimed at those who may have little or no idea about things like Twitter and Facebook, but would like to learn from the beginning what the benefits are. Looking at how to sign up and create an account, how to find our friends, how to meet new people and how to interact with the. We also look at how we add pictures, create galleries, add picture and video comments and share our interests with our friends, as well as looking at how we can find people with similar interests.

In later sessions, we look at how we can use what we know to benefit business, organizations or charities, to spread the word and increase the interest in our product and services, but for now, we are sticking with the basics.

The courses start on either Wednesday 13th or Friday 15th July, 2011. Each session lasts for 90 minutes and features a multimedia presentation, where Mark will show you pictures and videos and even how to sign up, followed by a question and answer session where you can ask anything you like.

Subscribing to the entire course is compulsory, as each module links to the others, so it would be impossible to follow the activities without attending all sessions. The entire course costs a mere 20€ per person, which includes everything within the modules of the particular level you subscribe to.

Places are limited, so booking is essential. To reserve your place, call The Leader today on 96 673 0057 and put your name down. You will then be told about the registration day, where you are welcome to come along, ask questions and sign up for your first step into a new world of on-line social networking.

Anybody of any age, experience or skill is welcome, but this particular level is really aimed at those who want to start from scratch. There will be no jargon, nothing complicated and you will not be expected to prove you can do anything either with or without a computer. You just come along, listen, watch and learn in a fun and hassle free way.
