Exclusive Media Group has picked up international rights to ensemble drama Disconnect , whose cast includes Jason Bateman , Hope Davis , Frank Grillo , Michael Nyqvist and Paula Patton .
The film, which Exclusive Films International will launch to foreign buyers at the American Film Market, marks the feature directorial debut of Henry-Alex Rubin , who won an Oscar nomination for documentary Murderball. Mickey Liddell and Jennifer Hilton of Liddell Entertainment are producing with William Horberg of Wonderful Films.
"Mickey is a guy with great instincts for material, and has the courage to back those choices," said Exclusive's Guy East , who announced the project with fellow co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair .
Exclusive Films International's Alex Walton , president of international sales and distribution, will handle foreign sales; CAA is repping North American rights.
Written by Andrew Stern , Disconnect also stars Andrea Riseborough , Alexander Skarsgard and Max Thieriot , as well as Colin Ford , Jonah Bobo and Haley Ramm .
The film interweaves three potboiler storylines about people searching for human connection in today's wired world of the internet. Both comic and harrowing, Disconnect explores the consequences of living life everywhere except the here and now.
" Disconnect is a project we've been passionate about since we first read the script and we feel fortunate to have found partners in Exclusive Media who share our enthusiasm," Liddell said.
Rubin is currently shooting the film in New York City.
