MEN'S HOOPS TO HOST IU-EAST IN EXHIBITION ON TUESDAY

Jaguars to tip off exhibition slate at 7:00 p.m. in the Jungle

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team will tip-off the 2011 exhibition slate when it hosts IU East on Tuesday (Nov. 2) night at 7:00 p.m in the Jungle. The Athletics Department is offering free admission to all in attendance, however in lieu of the ticket cost, donations to the IUPUI United Way Campaign will be accepted at the door.

IUPUI recently opened the year with a Red-White Scrimmage with the white team of the primary starters claiming a 99-88 win. Summit League Preseason Player of the Year Alex Young tallied a game-high 30 points and 10 rebounds on 13-of-20 shooting and also collected three steals. Senior Christian Siakam added 21 points and a game-high 13 boards and freshman Lyonell Gaines chipped in 20 points. The first team shot 57.6 percent from the floor and handed out 17 assists.

The red squad was led by's 23 points and Mitchell Patton contributed 19 points and 10 boards in the loss. The second team shot just 43.5 percent from the floor and 9-of-31 (29 percent) from three. Rice hit 3-of-5 from three andand Jordan Shanklin both hit two threes each.

IU East comes in with an 0-1 record this season, having dropped a 74-73 decision to Indiana Tech on Saturday. Ranked No. 21 in the NAIA Division II polls, IUE got 29 points and eight boards from Marcus Isaac in the loss. The junior guard hit 5-of-8 from three off the bench in his first game for the Red Wolves. Tyler Fangman added 14 points and David Sanders had 10 points and five assists.

IUPUI beat IUE 103-80 on Nov. 29 of last season behind 31 points from Leroy Nobles and 24 from Young. Three others finished in double-digits as Siakam netted 14 off the bench andscored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting. John Ashworth closed with 10 points on a perfect shooting night as IUPUI collectively hit 68.5 percent from the floor and 63.6 percent from three. Tyler Rigby led the Red Wolves with 25 points.
