Nick Novak was released today, after Nick Folk sealed the Jets kicker job with a 33 yarder last night against the Giants. Folk struggled during the middle of 2010 but was clutch for the Jets down the stretch and in the playoffs. Punter Chris Bryan was also released as was WR Courtney Smith.
Don’t be so sure that TJ Conley owns the Jets punting job just yet. The Jets may still scour the waiver wire, or wait for the one who loses the Giants punt off. Current Giant and former Jet Steve Weatherford did a great job landing kicks inside the 20 for Gang Green last year. Weatherford, who signed with Big Blue as a free agent weeks back, is still battling second year player Matt Dodge .
