Green Bay Packers team report: Rodgers to make cameo Thursday

GREEN BAY, Wis. — QB Aaron Rodgers will start Thursday's preseason finale against Kansas City. Rodgers sat out practice Monday with a sprained foot, but he returned to practice Tuesday and looked no worse for wear. Rodgers' practice consisted mostly of scout team work because he probably will only play a series against the Chiefs. Backups Matt Flynn and Graham Harrell took the majority of snaps with the No. 1 offense in preparation for Thursday night.

Notes: TE Jermichael Finley (ankle), WR James Jones (knee) and WR/PR Randall Cobb (knees) will not play vs. the Chiefs. Finley and Jones should be able to return to practice Sunday when the team begins preparations for New Orleans, but Cobb is a big question mark. He tried to come back from two bruised knees Monday but dropped out of practice and now will take more time off. ...

Cornerback will be the most hotly contested position on Thursday. The top four are set with Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Sam Shields and Jarrett Bush, but fourth-round pick Davon House, Pat Lee, Josh Gordy and Brandian Ross are in a heated battle for what may be two spots. House will make it just because he's a high pick, but Lee is a former second-rounder and the speedy Gordy has come up through the system and deserves a shot. Ross made some big plays early on, but was slowed by a hamstring injury.
