Blayney and District Golf - Local News - Sport - Golf - Blayney Chronicle

The nearest the pin winners on the par 3 2nd hole were A grade - TJ Smith 426cms and B grade - Adam Davis 620cms and on the 11th hole A grade - Reece Flaherty 65cms and B grade - Adam Davis 1000cms.

The annual summer competition concluded on Saturday with Jason Davis recording the best 6 round total with 229 stableford points, followed by Bob Costello with 227 points.

This Saturday members will play the 1st round of the 2011 Club Championships sponsored by the Abundant Life Church, in A, A Reserve, B and C grades with an 18 hole stroke event for the Tony Smith trophy.

On Sunday the second round will also be an 18 hole stroke event for the Blayney Sports Store trophy and the first qualifying round for the 2011 match play championships sponsored by AJ & DJ O'Neill Plumbing.

The 3rd and 4th round will the following weekend Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8.

Good Golfing.

Another major trophy was played for this week and some really good scores were needed to take out the prize - The Patroness Trophy.

Thank you Norma Perkins and Pat Burke for the donation of this trophy.

Winner with a wonderful 60 nett was Sue Bevear.

Runner up was Wendy Crisp with a creditable 68 nett.

Nearest the pin on both the 2nd and 9th was taken out by the ever consistent Beryl Tolhurst.

Best scores – S Bevear 60, W Crisp 68, A Davis 70, B Tolhurst 71, C Davis 72.

As you can see, with the exception of Sue’s score, the others had to battle for places, well done.

Beautiful day in Blayney on Monday and a fine day for the Anzac celebrations, to remember all those who served and those who gave their life for us.

Winter brings those damp fairways and less run on the ball.

These conditions did not stop Bob Costello from being on the ball, when he finished on top of the field with a score of 37 points, and I might add, off a handicap of 7.

Helen Keen played great golf to finish second on 34.

Nearest the pin for the men went to THE OLD MASTER Trevor Morley while the women once again failed to convert.

Perhaps a cross dresser of veteran age might like to put on the powder and paint and help the women out.

Next game May 2 – hope to see you on the course.
